Historical Exhibit at Hallowell Elementary School
The new Hallowell Elementary School opened on August 15, 2017 and features an
Three local historical societies: Horsham Preservation and Historical Association (HPHA), the Delaware Valley Historic Aircraft Association (DVHAA) and The Millbrooke Society;
have teamed to create an historical exhibit in the hallway of the new building. The exhibit contains historic artifacts and documents from the Horsham area and complements the
HPHA's part of the exhibit (above and below) contains arrowheads found at the farm, the fox hunting top hat belonging to Welsh Strawbridge, models of the Keith House, a flambe (blood letting device) and other historic objects.
Hallowell Elementary School
Hatboro-Horsham School District's new, $31 million Hallowell Elementary School officially opened Tuesday (April 18,2017). The school was open for limited use in the spring of 2017 and opened full time to students for the Fall term. Its official grand opening will be October28, 2017. Please check the Hatboro-Horsham School District web site for details. HPHA will be there to dedicate our timeline mural.
The school, a two-level, 88,000-square-foot building, was built on 6.8 acres at state Route 611 near Moreland Avenue on property that once housed the former Army Reserve Center. The land, adjacent to the "old" Hallowell, was deeded to Hatboro-Horsham for $1 by the federal government. The former school will be torn down to make way for fields and a playground.
