Events | Art Show 2017

HPHA hosted two local artists who showed their work at the Penrose Strawbridge House over 2 weekends in the fall of 2017.

We show artists work on an irregular schedule - if you would be interested in showing here, please contact us

We do not currently have any shows scheduled but are planning a group show in the Fall of 2018 for artists who have created works based on the Penrose Strawbridge House or Graeme Park,

Lynne fuses traditional Asian arts with her impressionist roots to create a unique approach to traditional Chinese Brush painting. She has recently shown her work at the 15th Street Meeting in New York, at the Springfield Meeting (where she is a member) and is showing at the Cellini Studios and Gallery in Ambler through March 15, 2018.

She became interested in drawing and painting at an early age. She studied traditional Western technique at the Philadelphia Academy of the Fine Arts in the mid-eighties. She also earned a certificate in Gallery Management and and curated an impressive private impressionist collection. Lynne then studied Chinese work under noted artist Ru-Lah Weng for eight years, western watercolor with Phillip Bank and has worked on perfecting her Asian technique through many years of study with Josephine Tsai.

Justine was commissioned by Pete Choate to paint a historical mural at the new Hallowell Elementary School in memory of his wife Margaret Choate. The mural was started in August 2017 and is being dedicated on Friday, October 27, 2017.

Justine is a graduate of Archbishop Wood High School, and Temple University. She has trained in painting throughout her entire childhood, studied in the Fine Arts program at Bucks County Community College and then entered into the Architectural Preservation program at the Tyler School of Arts with an additional focus on Anthropology and graduated with a B.S. in Architectural Preservation. The lens of Anthropology through which she conducted her preservation studies, has given her a unique perspective on heritage management, history, and community development.

In addition to creating the Hallowell mural she has also worked with HPHA on our Document Preservation Project.
