We celebrated Daffodil Days 2012 on April 22 at the Penrose Strawrbridge House. The warm winter we had (80 degree days in February), however, caused an early bloom of everything so most of the daffodils were wilted by late April. But we got together anyway.
Our special guest this year was Mark Huber of Clock Wise Antiques. Mark is what is known as a 'picker' - someone who finds treasures in basements, attics, where-ever. He gave an excellent presentation featuring some of his more unusual finds and then did informal evaluations of treasures that some of our members brought from home.
In addition to the presentation, we also displayed a number of documents from both the Penrose and Strawbridge families that we have in our collection. We have a fairly large collection and are in the process of cataloguing them and restoring those that need it. Our plan is to eventually digitize the collection so it is available on-line.
