Fire in the Hay Field

A brush fire on a hot July afternoon burned a good bit of hay drying in a field next to the Penrose Strawbridge House.

The hay field is on the left side of the Graeme Park driveway coming from County Line Rd. This is on the Horsham Township side of the property (the state of PA owns the land to the right) but is not part of the parcel maintained by HPHA. A creek separates this field from the Penrose Strawbridge House and the other buildings on the property. None of these were ever in danger from the fire.

A farmer leases the land from the township and had cut the hay earlier this week then left it to dry.

A big thank you to all the firemen and women who came out on this hot sunny day to do what they do!
